Job description

For one of our client in the energy sector, we are looking for Program contract Manager who will work in collaboration with the client's colleagues. As contract management is a key success factor for the effective implementation of a program, the program has appointed a Program Contracts Manager.


He/she is responsible for:

- Defining operational program governance in terms of contract management aligned with the client's policies, and developing specific tools/templates to be used by project teams and particularly by Contract Owners (contract management plan, notice to proceed template, punch list, etc.).

- Monitoring the various contracts underway within the department and their respective statuses.

- Proposing, in close collaboration with procurement and project managers, the optimal allocation and contract strategy to be implemented to minimize program risks and costs while adhering to schedule.

- Defining claim management strategies to be implemented to minimize program risks and costs (taking into account other program achievements, negotiations, or tender calls).

- Assisting and/or managing contract review sessions with subcontractors during contract negotiation or variation orders, in collaboration with Procurement.

- Supporting the project (Technical Contract Owner) in defining their contract management plan (second review). The contract management plan gathers all necessary information related to the delivery of project deliverables (owner/subcontractor) and performance requirements.

- Supporting the project in managing its claims:

  - Defining the optimal claim management strategy considering the project and ongoing program activities.

  - Ensuring claim letters sent to suppliers contain appropriate content and are reviewed/approved for accuracy and legal sufficiency.

  - Coordinating the construction of the defensive and offensive claim file with information/evidence.

  - Acting as coordinator for the legal and purchasing representative when necessary.

  - Proactively driving the progress of claims to closure.

  - Completing required claim reporting accurately and timely within Contract Management KPIs.

- Supporting the project in contract closure.

- Independently reviewing contract management within critical program projects. The goal is to identify areas for improvement, propose remediation plans with the project, and follow their progress.

- Identifying and assessing risks associated with assigned contracting efforts and ensuring proper awareness of such risks to relevant program management executives.

- Leading, contributing to, and/or delivering contract management training and awareness initiatives on behalf of the Program as required.



Qualifications and Skills

- You hold a university degree or have equivalent experience.

- You are proactive and take initiative.

- You have an analytical mind, a good sense of synthesis (structured), and are rigorous.

- You enjoy collaborating, working in teams, and demonstrate assertiveness.

- Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), SAP, knowledge of Clarity is an asset (portfolio management tool).
